ABOUT HYPNOSIS AND HYPNOTHERAPY

Hypnosis is a natural, creative, dreamlike and relaxed state, similar to when you are just about to drift off to sleep.  We also day dream when we are trying to concentrate, when we are engrossed in a film or TV and we "switch off".  Hypnosis by itself, however, apart from being relaxing, is unlikely to provide relief of symptoms, it is the therapy - HYPNOTHERAPY - which is carried out within the hypnotised (relaxed) state that is important.

Your mind is made up of conscious and subconscious - the conscious mind is very logical and deals with everyday things, it is the unconscious part of your mind where we store all our habits and things that experience has taught us.  The relaxed state of hypnosis allows access to the subconscious mind so that changes can be implemented to the things stored there that are causing us to not live the kind of live that we want.

Hypnosis is a safe therapeutic technique, which originated some hundred of years ago - it is recognised by branches of orthodox medicine as a valuable alternative to drugs, to help with healing and pain.

There is no such thing as a "hypnotised feeling" - many people find their senses to be far more alert than usual - you will certainly not "lose control" at any time, nor can you be manipulated in any way.

Nobody can be made to do anything that they do not want to do - a person in hypnosis is aware of everything happening around them - and will retain a full and accurate memory of everything afterwards.

It is a comfortable and relaxed state during which the client can converse sensibly with the therapist.
